Chance/Dance of Discourse

that was it

“Did you ever stop to notice
All the blood we’ve shed before?
Did you ever stop to notice
The crying earth the weeping shores?”
-Michael Jackson (Earth Song)

he was a god
who married
a king’s daughter
danced
on water
he did

i learned of him
through one of
the local houses
of wax

we were
introduced
and i never
looked back

this is it

“sacrament of rock
and roll, liquid silver, solid
gold, honey
on the slide to sweet
solution, high and lonesome”
-Campbell McGrath (American Noise)

a magician
shape-shifter
a thriller
with gloves

the enchanting
mesmerizing moves
that would ever float
groove – so smooth
mask the powers
of a master artist
and perpetual child

the modern/postmodern
fertility dance
and mating call
has hypnotized all

he
was the perfect product
of a bio-mechanical industrial construct
driven by sales
and sensational conduct
driven to the point
to inevitably self-destruct

sensual eccentric
also guided by Earth Mother
moon-walking on razor blades
a reflection of high western culture

my youth
would have never been the same
without the manifestation
of his imagination
and fame

stop
the love you save
may be your own
human nature says
i want you back

zeppelin

“On we sweep with threshing oar
Our only goal will be the western shore”
-Led Zeppelin (Immigrant Song)

“Can I take it to the bridge, y’all?”
-James Brown

this zeppelin
forever flies
Bonham bombing the world with rhythms –
the Spirit of Rock never dies

priests of the Soul –
sound-visionaries
we reside
in the houses of the holy
we climb
stairways to heaven

respect to Robert Johnson,
Otis Redding, and James Brown
the crunge is a point of view
keeping soul and funk around

plant a page
in the book of jones
you can alter your consciousness
without being stoned
just a drum and bass
can carry you
to the edge of space
while a guitar
can conjure God’s face

what is
will ever be
thank you
for a whole lotta love
and if there is a
communication breakdown
i’ll bark like a black dog
for there is no gallows pole for you
and who better to do the misty mountain hop
when the levee breaks

has anyone seen
that confounded bridge?

the avant god

“made
his
steel
strings sing
ache
bend
break”
-Regie Gibson (eulogy of jimi christ)

i am not
trying to sell any thing
a greater harmonious frontier
is all that i am advocating
the only bells and whistles you hear or see
are the sounds of a new rhythmical awakening

it’s in me
it’s in me
the portal to the next dimension
the next step to become totally free

it’s lifting me
it’s shifting me
the liberation of my mind
the release of the burdens of body

#s=$-Soul minus Spirit

“The business of music is more often than not a world of small minds and little soul, where success is dictated by the ability to locate trends and accordingly manufacture the most lucrative product available. In this context, the lowest forms of capitalism emerge in insidious ways: the isolation and ghettoization of easily controlled “genres” and the encouragement of planned obsolescence as ways to keep up the flow of “product” become the techniques for success. Vision, integrity, significance and expression — the driving forces behind the creative act — are sacrificed as mere obstructions to the workings of business.”
-Peter Wetherbee

speech that ascends
the meaning of being free –
cosmic, karmic communication
filling the void blissfully –
this is the music that speaks for me

speaking for the healing Sun
the only One
the healing drum
no compromise for higher compassion
for the healing sound
for the Spirit unbound
for higher reason
for a better world to come
bring on the healing songs
money-greed will not stop them
flood the Earth with the healing songs
no barbarian butcher can chop them

i am a sacred creature
i live my life accordingly
i revere the music
that lives inside of me

i sing to the heavens
EARth, air, land, and sea
it is godly revelry
the true freedom of being happy
